Cancer Outreach in Moruga

World Cancer Day is celebrated on the 4th February annually, it is an opportunity to heighten awareness about this non-communicable disease, lend support, take personal action, and encourage prevention, detection and treatment. Under the theme I am and I will the staff at the Moruga Health Centre hosted their World Cancer Day Outreach on Friday 15th February, 2019 at the Basse Terrre Community Centre.

Emergency Medicine Public Conference at Debe Secondary School

The South-West Regional Health Authority partnered with the Rotary Club of Penal and the Debe Secondary School Interact Club to host an Emergency Medicine Public Conference at the Debe Secondary School on Saturday 16th February, 2019 geared towards increasing knowledge of the Emergency Department and guiding persons’ response to various emergency medical situations.

In commemoration of World Cancer Day the staff at the Moruga Health Centre will be hosting a Pap Smear Outreach at the Basse Terre Community Centre on Friday 15th February, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The objective is to raise awareness about cervical cancer in the community and provide the following:
Domestic Violence Lecture at Tabaquite Health Centre
Ms. Gita Jaglal-Bankay, Medical Social Worker’s final lecture on the domestic violence series in the County Caroni District, took place at the Tabaquite Health Centre on Tuesday 12th February. There were approximately 40 persons in the audience as Ms. Jaglal- Bankay highlighted the different types of abuse within the home environment as well as what can be done if a person is going through or knows someone who is going through domestic violence.
Domestic Violence Series comes to Couva DHF

Ms. Gita Jaglal-Bankay, Medical Social Worker I, continued her Domestic Violence Series in the County Caroni area by conducting a lecture at the Couva District Health Facility on February 7th, 2019  targeting young Antenatal clients most of whom were below the age of 25.
