SWRHA partners with NESC

The South-West Regional Health Authority gave its support as partners in health to the National Energy Skills Centre as the staff observed of World Health Day on April 5th, 2019 at the NESC Campus Point Lisas, Couva. Students and staff from the eight campuses in Trinidad were able to access essential health services provided by the SWRHA’s Caroni South Cluster  including: screenings for HIV, blood pressure and blood glucose; immunization – Influenza, Hepatitis B and Tetanus; nutrition and dietetic consultation and food demonstration; and Medical [Doctor] consultations.

World Health Day Outreach in Pt. Fortin

St. Patrick West Cluster hosted a World Health Day Outreach fair on Wednesday 3rd April, 2019 at the Victor Chin Kit Park, Point Fortin to promote the of importance sustainable living through good health and well-being. The staff partnered with other agencies to help bring about an acute understanding of what it means to be a healthy and safe community by accessing the health and social services that are available in their neighbourhood.  

Temporary Closure of Pleasantville Health Centre

Kindly be advised the Pleasantville Health Centre has been closed at 3:00 P.M. to facilitate repair works at the facility. Health care services will resume at 8:00 A.M. on tomorrow Thursday 4th April, 2019.

PAHO/WHO Cancer Control and Prevention Mission Team visits SFG&TH

The Ministry of Health via the National Cancer Control Coordinating Committee (NCCCC) has engaged PAHO/WHO to develop a National Cancer Control Plan of Action which will guide the health sector in the prevention and control of common adult and childhood cancers. In this regard, a PAHO/WHO Cancer Control and Prevention Mission Team visited the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital on April 2nd, 2019. Public Board Meeting 2019

The South-West Regional Health Authority’s Public Board Meeting 2019 was held at the San Fernando City Hall Auditorium, Harris Promenade on March 28th, 2019. Mrs. Valerie Alleyne-Rawlins, Chairman of the SWRHA Board of Directors highlighted initiatives undertaken to strengthen processes and systems geared towards improving the quality of healthcare at the SWRHA and the development of SWRHA’s Strategic Plan 2018-2021. World Autism Day 2019

World Autism Awareness Day is annually celebrated on April 2nd. It was instituted in 2007 to raise awareness of the millions of children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder worldwide and to counteract any discrimination that may occur against those living with autism by creating greater understanding in societies across the world. This year’s theme is Assistive Technologies, Active Participation.

San Fernando, March 29th 2019:  The SWRHA wishes to advise the public that a vehicular accident occurred at the Couva District Health Facility at approximately 12:45 a.m. involving a vehicle crashing into the main entrance of the Facility resulting in some damage to the front of the building.
