Hand Hygiene Challenge

World Hand Hygiene Day was celebrated on May 7th, 2019 at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital. Under this year’s theme “It’s in your hands – Prevent sepsis in healthcare” the IPC Unit issued a challenge to their colleagues on the Medical and Surgical Wards whereby they were required to demonstrate proper hand washing techniques.

Diabetes Self-Management Graduation Ceremony at Flanagin Town Health Centre

District Health Visitor, Ms. Seeta Sookdeo and staff at the Flanagin Town Health Centre hosted a Graduation Ceremony on May 2nd, 2019 to celebrate participants’ completion of a 15-hour Diabetes Self-Management Course which was conducted at the Flanagin Town Health Centre. Sixteen members of the Flanagin Town Health Centre Diabetes Support Group received certificates of participation for the Course which comprised interactive presentations from pharmacists, medical and nursing professionals.

San Fernando, 1st May, 2019: The South-West Regional Health Authority would like to provide an update on the electrical works taking place at the San Fernando General Hospital.

SWRHA Gets ‘Hill’ Ready

Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (CNCDs) continue to be the leading causes of death in Trinidad and Tobago. The SWRHA has embarked on initiatives to encourage individuals to become involved in healthy practices which include increased physical activity, regular and adequate consumption of fruits, vegetables and water and the early detection of chronic conditions like diabetes mellitus and hypertension by screening asymptomatic individuals. On April 28th, 2019, the SWRHA hosted Get ‘Hill’ Ready at the C3 Centre.
