Staff at the Flanagin Town Health Centre in collaboration with the Flanagin Town Health Centre Diabetic and Wellness Group continued their thrust to promote and encourage healthy living, raise awareness of the importance of making healthy choices and foster health education among primary school children in the Flanagin Town community.
Please be advised that healthcare services at the Fyzabad Health Centre will be temporarily suspended on Thursday 18th July, 2019 in order to facilitate works at the facility. During this time, clients can access healthcare services at the South Oropouche Health Centre.
A shuttle service will also be available at the Fyzabad Health Centre to transport patients accessing care to and from the South Oropouche Health Centre.

The La Romaine Diabetic Support Group 4th Annual General Meeting was held on May 25th, 2019 at the La Romaine Health Centre to elect the officers for the term 2019/2020. One hundred and twelve persons came out to celebrate and listen as the group’s sitting Chairperson Dr. Sarah Roopnarine reflected on their activities for 2018/2019 and presented their projections for the upcoming year 2019/2020.
The SWRHA Health Promotion Committee continued its advocacy for healthier lifestyle choices that can reduce the risk of acquiring chronic non-communicable diseases by partnering with the National Agricultural Marketing Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO) at its Farmers' Market on Harris Promenade San Fernando on June 21st, 2019.
From May 14th to June 14th, 2019 the South-West Regional Health Authority in collaboration with the Health Education Division, Ministry of Health, embarked on The Healthy Me in Schools Programme. This initiative focussed on encouraging primary school students mainly those in the post SEA age group, to lead healthier lives aimed at decreasing the effects of the chronic non-communicable diseases by incorporating good nutrition, physical activity, mental health and oral health in their daily lives.
