World Kidney Day 2019

The South-West Regional Health Authority joins the global community in recognising World Kidney Day, today, March 14th, 2019. World Kidney Day is a global awareness campaign which raises awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and the need to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. Diabetes, hypertension, obesity, as well as infections such as HIV, malaria, tuberculosis and hepatitis are key risk factors for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). This year’s theme is Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere. This theme emphasizes the need for universal health coverage for prevention and early treatment of kidney disease, and calls for the promotion of equitable quality healthcare for persons living with kidney diseases worldwide. Let us raise awareness by encouraging others to learn more about chronic kidney diseases, support persons living with kidney disease and promote Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere.
