Four babies- three girls one boy- were born at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital on Christmas morning. Ms. Candice Baptiste gave birth to a baby girl at 12:44 a.m. followed by Ms. Rena Ramsaroop’s delivery of a girl at 1:04 a.m. SWRHA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Keith Mc Donald visited the Postnatal Ward on Christmas morning. He interacted with the new mothers and their families as well as distributed hampers to the mothers on the Ward.
Santa’s little helpers from the Rapid Fire Kidz Foundation in conjunction with UNI-TNT visited the Paediatric Wards at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital on December 15th, 2018 to host their Annual Christmas Hospital Treat. His Worship the Mayor Alderman Junia Regrello and Senator the Honourable Haji Kazim Hosein Minister of Rural Development and Local Government also joined in to help spread joy and distribute toys and colouring books to the children. The Nurses were also given a token of appreciation for their valuable role in caring for these children.
The 2018 National Panorama Small Band winner, Golden Hands thrilled patients and visitors alike with sweet songs of Christmas on steelpan in the Waiting Area, Level 4, San Fernando Teaching Hospital on December 20th, 2018. With their energetic performance they created a jubilant atmosphere that compelled persons to move to the rhythm of the music and feel the joy of the season.

Passing Away of Patient on Maternity Ward, San Fernando General Hospital
San Fernando. 19th December 2018. The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) offers its condolences to family of Ms. Maquader Martin who passed away at the San Fernando General Hospital’s Maternity Ward.
The Hospital Christian Fellowship hosted their Christmas Programme on December 12th, 2018. The programme featured worship songs and a lively performance of “Thank You Lord” by the SWRHA Choir, a skit, a musical ensemble and an uplifting message delivered by Ms. Theresa Alexander to the audience of approximately 40 persons gathered at Level 3 San Fernando Teaching Hospital. The Hospital Christian Fellowship is an interdenominational group which aims to unite Christian believers in hospitals across the globe.
Presentation College visited the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital to bring Christmas goodwill and cheer to children and parents on the Paediatric Wards on December 12th, 2018. Approximately 50 students and their teachers livened the Wards with their various parang songs and Christmas carols. Santa distributed gifts to smiling children, while the students sang Christmas songs accompanied by cuatros, drums and steelpan.
“Where is Santa Claus? it’s Christmas Eve” sang approximately 80 students and teachers from the San Fernando Girls Government Primary School as they lustily serenaded persons for an hour in the foyer adjacent to the Maternity and Child Health Clinic on Level 4 San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital on December 7th, 2018.
