The Ward 2 Clinic of San Fernando General Hospital will be hosting a day of HIV testing as part of the Units Caribbean Testing week activities. We will be offering HIV testing in the Foyer of the San Fernando General Hospital on Tuesday 26th June 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm.
Public Advisory : Disruption in Service at the Siparia District Health Facility

The Emergency Department, Siparia District Health Facility will experience some disruption in service during the period Saturday 23rd – Sunday 24th June, 2018 due to cleaning of Department.

During this time, patients are asked to access the Department via the Main Entrance to the facility located by the pharmacy.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but this has become necessary to ensure that we provide a safe and comfortable environment for all.

Brasso RC Primary School wins Flanagin Town Health Centre’s 3rd Health Education Programme

The Brasso RC Primary School are the winners of the Flanagin Town’s Health Centre’s and Flanagin Town Health Centre’s Diabetic Support Group’s 3rd Annual Health Education Programme which took place on June 7th, 2018.

This year’s programme entitled “Make the Change” was geared towards encouraging students to make a stand against bullying by identifying signs and forms of bullying, utilise support systems and offer support to others in the event of bullying.

Minister of Health visits Labour Ward on Father's Day

The Honourable Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh visited the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital’s Labour Ward on June 17th, 2018, to wish Father’s Day to several fathers who were able to witness the birth of their babies at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital. Minister Deyalsingh distributed tokens to the fathers and interacted with the new mothers on the Labour Ward.

The La Romaine Diabetic Support Group

The La Romaine Diabetic Support Group completed its third year of existence, far surpassing the initial goals for which it was founded. This dynamic group continues to grow over the years as it seeks to promote wellness in the community of La Romaine and environs. The main goal of the Group is to educate the community on prevention and living with lifestyle diseases.

World Blood Day at Blood Bank 2018

The Blood Bank at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital recognised this year’s Blood Donor’s Day by recognising donors. World Blood Donor Day, celebrated June 14th annually, serves to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood for patients. Blood Bank staff gave tokens of appreciation to voluntary donors, and staff from the Pathology Lab, the Ward 2 Clinic also conducted short presentations.

Nutrition and Dietetics celebrate Nutrition Awareness Week 2018

In keeping with the theme of this year’s National Nutrition Awareness Week “Go Further with Foods,” the staff at the Nutrition and Dietetics Department encouraged persons to learn more about healthy foods and make healthy eating choices at their annual health fair, held on June 13th, 2018 at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital. Persons visiting the various booths were treated to body composition analysis, food sampling and displays, sample meal displays and nutrition education materials.
