Reopening of Walk-in Entrance at Accident and Emergency, Area Hospital Point Fortin

The walk in entrance at the Area Hospital Point Fortin’s Accident and Emergency was reopened on Monday 21st, May 2018. This entrance is aesthetically pleasing, offers wheel chair ramp access to the walk-in area, improved shelter for persons accessing the A&E and is equipped with a smooth walkway.

Cardiac Ward Staff recognises May Measurement Month at JTA Supermarket C3

The SWRHA’s Cardiology Department recognised the International Society of Hypertension’s May Measurement Month by providing free Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index screening and counselling at JTA Supermarket, C3 Centre, San Fernando on May 26th, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Ste. Madeleine Health Centre Senior Citizens Recreation Camp’s Indian Arrival Day Celebration

Staff at the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre joined members of the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre’s Senior Citizens Recreation Camp on May 22nd, 2018 to host Indian Arrival Day Celebrations. The programme featured songs from Mr. Jairaj Singh, a feature address by Dr. Geeta Rajkumar and chutney selections from Mr. Heeralal Rampartap. Staff and senior citizens modelled Indian wear, they were entertained with traditional Indian dance and joined in dance to the melodious sounds of tassa.

Extended Hours Temporarily Suspended at Marabella, Pleasantville and Indian Walk Health Centres

Kindly be advised that Extended Hours Services will be temporarily suspended on Wednesday 30th May and Thursday 31st May, 2018 at the following Health Centres:

  • Marabella Health Centre
  • Pleasantville Health Centre
  • Indian Walk Health Centre

Public Advisory: Temporary Relocation of Roy Joseph Health Centre

The public is advised that effective Monday 28th May, 2018, the Roy Joseph Health Centre located at Gomez Street, San Fernando will be temporarily relocated to the Pleasantville Health Centre.

Services at the Child Guidance Clinic at the Pleasantville Health Centre have been rescheduled to Monday to Friday 12:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Shuttle service will be provided from Roy Joseph Health Centre to the Pleasantville Health Centre. Monday to Friday- 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

10 000 Diabetic Retinopathy Screenings

The Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service celebrated its milestone of conducting 10,000 screenings with a commemorative function on May 23, 2018 at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital’s northern conference room.

The South-West Regional Health Authority was astutely represented at the 7th World Congress on Midwifery and Women’s Health in Osaka, Japan by Mrs. Kathyann Thomas-Elbourne, General Manager Nursing.  The theme of this congress which took place from 11th to 12th May, 2018 was ‘Caring for Women and New-borns with Skill and Compassion’.
