Good News on Day 1 of Minimally Invasive Workshop

At the South-West Regional Health Authority, we continue to enhance our capacity for minimally invasive surgically procedures. The Department of Urology is partnering with the International Society of Urology (IVUmed) and the Caribbean Urological Association (CURA) to host a Minimally Invasive Urology Surgical Workshop from May 14th to 17th 2018.

Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 6th to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society. It marks the beginning of Nurses Week, which ends on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale the founder of modern nursing. The Nursing Administration Joins in this celebration with a week of events themed, A Voice to Lead “Health is a Human Right” from Monday 7th – Friday 11th May 2018 See below for Itinerary.
SWRHA commemorates World Day for Safety and Health at the Work

The SWRHA’s Health Safety and Environment Department (HSE) celebrated World Day for Safety and Health at Work with a Health Fair on Harris Promenade, May 4th, 2018.

Booths were conducted by Trinidad and Tobago Police and Fire Services, Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society, OSH Agency, San Fernando City Corporation, and SWRHA’s HSE, Psychiatry, Disaster Coordination Unit, Nursing and Nutrition and Dietetics Departments. Nurses from the HIV Caravan also offered HIV counselling and testing.

 

Extended Hours Temporarily Suspended at the Penal Health Centre

World Hand Hygiene Day 2018: Hand Hygiene in Healthcare

On May 4th, 2018 staff of the Infection Prevention and Control unit hosted their annual World Hand Hygiene Day public outreach at the San Fernando General Hospital foyer under the World Health Organisation’s theme “It’s in your hands – prevent sepsis in healthcare”. The focus was on helping persons understand the importance of washing their hands using the right techniques for minimising the risk of contracting infections that can possible lead to life-threatening conditions.

On the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day the Infection Prevention and Control Unit invites all staff and public to join their public outreach entitled “It’s in your Hands, Prevent Sepsis in Health Care” at the San Fernando General Hospital Foyer on Friday 4th May, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
