Falling Ceiling at Burns Unit

San Fernando, March 10th, 2018: The South-West Regional Health Authority wishes to assure the public that patients warded at the Burns Unit at the San Fernando General Hospital have been relocated to safe and secured area and continue to receive treatment as usual from our dedicated healthcare professionals.

Good News: Gratitude and Commendation for Female Medical Ward, level 13

Mr. Reynold Ali of Ontario, Canada expressed his gratitude and commendation for service excellence delivered to his mother during her stay at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital, Female Medical Ward on Level 13. Mr. Ali wrote:  

I Reynold Ali write this letter on behalf of my 87 year old mother, Mary Ali, who was hospitalized on Level 13 (Teaching Hospital). Ms. Ali eventually passed on Boxing Day 2017.

Good News! Exceptional service from San Fernando Oncology Department

A letter of commendation was extended to the Oncology Department of the San Fernando General Hospital via a letter to the Express Newspaper dated Sunday 25th February, 2018. The Letter reads:

Please allow me space to make my observations known since as a people, When we are dissatisfied with a service, everyone will know; however, great service is hardly or never recognised.

Good News! Cornea Transplant at San Fernando General Hospital

REJECTED by the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope, for her daughter who is afflicted with Downs Syndrome and who developed scars on the cornea of her right eye, a Tunapuna mother yesterday thanked a medical team of the San Fernando General Hospital who performed ground-breaking cornea transplant surgery which saved the patient’s eyesight.

Please be advised that the Palo Seco and Erin Health Centres have been closed earlier than the stipulated time due to lack of electricity supply.

Carnival Showtime at the La Romaine Health Centre

The La Romaine Health Centre was transformed into a Carnival cultural centre on February 7, 2018, when the staff put on their first ever Carnival event. Secondary Schools in the community were invited to perform original compositions on the topic of HIV/AIDS. This event was a medium for heightening awareness about the realities of these communicable diseases and encourage everyone to engage in responsible behaviour especially during the Carnival Season.
