Ste. Madeleine Health Centre’s Senior Citizens Recreation Camp visits T&T Coast Guard Base

Staff at the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre continue to promote health and wellness for senior citizens in the Ste. Madeleine Community. Nursing staff accompanied 18 members of the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre’s Senior Citizens Recreation Camp to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard base on October 30th, 2018.

Breast Cancer Awareness Day

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month the staff at the Community Liaison Unit and Patient Education and Counselling Centre hosted Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 25th, 2018 at the Nurses Lounge, San Fernando General Hospital. It was an effort to bolster awareness about breast cancer and promote the steps that can be taken to increase the chances of survival rate among persons diagnosed with this type of cancer.  

Good News: Thank you notice to our Ophthalmology team

A thank you notice was published in today’s Guardian and it reads:

"Eye surgery done at San Fernando General Hospital by Dr. Fareed Rajack and his team Dr. Navin Usit, Dr. Varune Chariah, Dr. Aviansh Jagessar and Dr. Avinash Chatergoon on 4th April, 2018

I Shannie Ramdeen want to convey my sincere thanks to the Doctors who performed the surgery. It was successful and my vision is now excellent.

May God continue to bless these Doctors for their dedication to duty and care for the citizens of this country."

MoH Media Release: FAKE NEWS: Deaths from Leptospirosis

Port of Spain, 24th October, 2018: The Ministry of Health notes, with concern, the social media video of a news report alleging that there have been recent deaths from Leptospirosis at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Members of the public are asked to note that is based on an old news report and therefore sharing the video encourages public misinformation.

The Ministry of Health reiterates that, at this time, there are no confirmed reports of death due to the current flooding.

SWRHA Career Fair 2018

“Your Future is Now” was the theme of this year’s Career Fair, which was hosted by Nursing Administration staff at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital. Approximately 150 students from secondary schools in San Fernando and environs were invited to visit the various booths showcasing the multidisciplinary departments and jobs within the South-West Regional Health Authority.
