The SWRHA’s Urology Department, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Urological Association (TTURA) has hosted an adult and paediatric reconstructive urology surgical workshop from November 12th to 14th, 2018. The reconstructive urological surgeries were conducted on approximately 15 clients. The SWRHA’s Urology Team, headed by Dr. Krishan Ramsoobhag were guided by Dr. Robert Kovell and Dr. Christopher Long from the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia respectively.

Staff at the Freeport Health Centre’s commemorated World Diabetes Day by hosting several presentations during their Diabetes Clinic on November 13^th, 2018. Dr. Kavita Ali-Khan, highlighted the importance of clients measuring their blood sugar level on a regular basis, and presenting their readings and medications to doctors during their clinic visits. During her presentation to the group of approximately 45 persons, Ms. Jochelle Mohammed, Registered Dietician encouraged persons with diabetes to make healthy eating choices and utilised displays to portray meal portions.

Staff at the Couva District Health Facility celebrated the “Festival of Lights” on Friday 2nd November, 2018. Dr. Pravathy Kadir during her opening remarks delved into the history and meaning of Divali in various parts of India. She encouraged persons to look within their hearts, remove negative emotions and extend love and kindness to others. The audience of 30 persons were entertained with a dance from a member of the Shiv Shakti Dance Group, a fashion show during which staff members modelled traditional Indian attire.
