Diabetes Awareness at La Brea Health Centre

Staff at the La Brea Health Centre will be commemorating World Diabetes Day by hosting their Diabetes Awareness Day on Thursday 15th November, 2018. The public is invited from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to learn about the importance of diabetes management. The feature presentation will be delivered on proper nutrition and there will also be a live food demonstration.

World Diabetes Day with Community Liaison Unit

World Diabetes Day will be celebrated on Thursday 15th November, 2018 by the staff of the Community Liaison Unit. Urology Department hosts Surgical Workshop

The SWRHA’s Urology Department, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Urological Association (TTURA) has hosted an adult and paediatric reconstructive urology surgical workshop from November 12th to 14th, 2018. The reconstructive urological surgeries were conducted on approximately 15 clients. The SWRHA’s Urology Team, headed by Dr. Krishan Ramsoobhag were guided by Dr. Robert Kovell and Dr. Christopher Long from the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia respectively.

Freeport Health Centre commemorates World Diabetes Day

Staff at the Freeport Health Centre’s commemorated World Diabetes Day by hosting several presentations during their Diabetes Clinic on November 13th, 2018. Dr. Kavita Ali-Khan, highlighted the importance of clients measuring their blood sugar level on a regular basis, and presenting their readings and medications to doctors during their clinic visits. During her presentation to the group of approximately 45 persons, Ms. Jochelle Mohammed, Registered Dietician encouraged persons with diabetes to make healthy eating choices and utilised displays to portray meal portions.

Princes Town DHF Princes Town District Health Facility in collaboration with the Princes Town Lions Club Princes Town Central celebrate World Diabetes Day on November 14, 2018. The public is invited to join them on the Princes Town Promenade for the parade which starts at 9:00 a.m. and the health fair at 10:00 a.m. Come get your numbers, free screenings and counselling available:

Flanagin Town walk for Diabetes

On November 14, 2018 the staff at the Flanagin Town Health Centre will be hosting their annual World Diabetes Day Walkathon and Health Fair. The walk begins at 8:00 a.m. and will be followed by the fair at 9:00 a.m. The focus will be on diabetes and its complications. There will be lectures on: Coping with stress   Blindness associated with diabetes Prevention of loss of limbs Dietary advise Everyone is invited!

Freeport Health Centre host diabetes Programme

The Freeport Health Centre will be hosting a Diabetes Wellness Programme for their patients in recognition of World Diabetes Day on November 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. This educational session is geared towards assisting persons with creating a clearer understanding of diabetes and the daily dietary requirements for prevention or management of this non-communicable disease.
