The public is advised that the Princes Town District Health Facility will be closed on Friday 27th January, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. to facilitate spraying of the entire facility. Services will resume on Monday 30th January, 2017 at 6:00 a.m.
During this time persons of the area can continue to access care at the closest Health Centre, i.e. Indian Walk and Ste. Madeleine Health Centre on weekdays 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, on Saturday from 8.00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday and 8:00 am to 12 noon on Sunday.
Mr. Damien Taylor, Psychiatric Social Worker II, attached to the Child Guidance Clinic would be on WACK Radio (90.1 FM) at 1.00 p.m. to discuss issues related to “Self-harm”.

The La Romaine Diabetes Support Group invites the national community to join its educational meetings on the fourth Saturday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Waiting Room at the La Romaine Health Centre. These sessions provide support and promote healthy lifestyles for effective prevention and management of lifestyle diseases.

Thirty-four Registered Nurses from four Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) comprise the new intake of students at the School of Midwifery, San Fernando General Hospital. The group consists of 20 students from South-West RHA, two from Eastern RHA, six from the Tobago RHA and six from North Central RHA. This ten-module programme will run for 18 months and end in January 2018. Upon completion, graduates will receive a license to practice midwifery in Trinidad and Tobago.
Twenty Imams from the South-West Region participated in the third Psychological and Mental Health First Aid training session, hosted by the Psychiatric Department on January 10th, 2016 at Level 3 Conference Room, San Fernando Teaching Hospital. This brief training session was designed to equip imams with knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health problems in persons in their communities, while facilitating the referral process for specialised treatment available at the SWRHA.
