SWRHA welcomes New Year Babies

For eight families in the South-West region ringing in the New Year 2017 was a double celebration as they also welcomed the newest additions to their families. On New Year’s morning The Honourable Minister of Health, Mr. Terrance Deyalsingh paid a courtesy visit to the San Fernando General Hospital to spend time with and congratulate these mothers on their new born babies.

Christmas on the Hill with CLU

Staff at the Community Liaison Unit hosted their annual Christmas on the Hill party for the South-West Life Changers Youth Group on Thursday 29th December, 2016. This Youth Group consists of children 18 years and under living with diabetes. The parents and siblings of the group’s members were also invited.

Get your Flu shot

In a tropical country like ours. The Flu (influenza) occurs throughout the year. Belonging to any of the following groups makes you more likely to develop complications from the Flu (Influenza):

  • Children aged from six (6) months to two years
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults over 65
  • People with chronic medical conditions (hear, lung, or kidney disease, diabetes)
  • Obese individuals

Flu vaccines will be available every Tuesday and Thursday (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

The Staff at the Penal Health Centre continues to observe World AIDS Day by raising Awareness about HIV/AIDS. The Public is invited to attend the open day on Thursday 29th December, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Persons will have access to free HIV screening, consultation and HIV/AIDS education sessions which include: Lectures and Videos on HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). Siparia DHF Gives Back

In keeping with this season of giving, the Quality Improvement Unit (QIU) at the Siparia District Health Facility (SDHF), coordinated a food drive during December 2016. The drive was focused on helping less privileged persons during the Christmas season. Hampers filled with a variety of food items and toys- donated by SDHF staff members- were distributed to two families on December 23rd, 2016 by the Siparia DHF, Quality Improvement Unit (QIU).
