Shape Up Saturday

The South-West Regional Health Authority’s TT Moves Initiative, Shape Up Saturday pumped off on August 24th, 2019 at the South West Regional Indoor Sporting Arena, Point Fortin. Six Exercise Crews from the South-West Region guided 40 persons through an energetic morning aerobics and exercise routine. Persons received blood sugar and blood pressure tests as well as fruits, water and health counselling and advice. Saturday morning ended with conscious lyrics of reggae performer artiste, “Groundsman”.

Public Advisory- Relocation of Main Service Areas Emergency Department Area Hospital Point Fortin

Please be advised that the Main Service Areas at the Emergency Department, Area Hospital Point Fortin will be temporarily relocated to the Outpatient Clinic at the Hospital from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th August , 2019, in order to facilitate cleaning works during this time.

The Emergency Department continues to be open 24 hours. For further information, call our toll-free 87-SWRHA (79742).

Breastfeeding Presentations Gran Couva Health Centre

In keeping with this year’s World Breastfeeding Week theme “Empower Parents Enable Breastfeeding”, Registered Nurse Claudette Stanisclaus has been conducting breastfeeding presentations every Thursday from August 8th, 2019 as part of the Gran Couva Health Centre’s yearly Breastfeeding Programme. These presentations aim to educate parents in the community on the benefits of breastfeeding, the importance of lactation and maintaining a positive outlook and image post-delivery. Presentations at Gran Couva Health Centre will end on August 29th, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

Temporary Closure of Penal Health Centre

Kindly be advised that the Penal Health Centre will be closed at 1:00pm and extended hours canceled today, Wednesday 21st August 2019.

Medical Orderlies Reward and Recognition Week

The Medical Orderlies and Hospital Administration Departments recognised and rewarded SWRHA’s Medical Orderlies with a Week of Activities from August 19th to 23rd, 2019. The Week commenced with Medical Orderlies congregating at the Nurses’ Lounge San Fernando General Hospital, for a Thanksgiving Service. The Orderlies showcased their daily responsibilities and moving techniques by re-enacting various scenarios involving a trauma patient and a patient with a seizure.

Disaster Coordination Unit- Going Beyond Disaster

The SWRHA’s Disaster Coordination Unit and Training and Development Unit, Human Resources continue to enhance the SWRHA’s ability to respond in times of disaster by equipping staff with the necessary knowledge and skills. Eighteen members of staff from the Area Hospital Point Fortin were trained in Shelter and Shelter Management at the Northern Conference Room, Level 8, and San Fernando Teaching Hospital on August 15th, 16th and 19th 2019.

From August 20th to 22nd, 2019, Medical Orderlies will showcase their talents and achievements in the San Fernando General Hospital’s Foyer from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
