A message from the Chairman on World Mental Health Day 2016

The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) joins over one hundred countries in celebrating World Mental Health Day today. The theme “Dignity in Mental Health – Psychological and Mental Health First Aid for All”is both instructive and perceptive. Persons diagnosed with mental health challenges within SWRHA’s boundaries are in receipt of a high level of inpatient and outpatient mental health care by our dedicated staff.

Temporary Closure of Outpatient Pharmacies at San Fernando General and Teaching Hospitals

Kindly be advided that the Outpatient Pharmacies at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospitals will be closed on Saturday 8th October, 2016. Services will resume on Monday 10th October, 2016.

Clients can access Pharmacy Services at the following Health Centres between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 9th October, 2016 and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday 9th October, 2016:

All are invited to attend World Mental Health Day celebrations at the Gulf City Mall’s Atrium on Saturday 1st October, 2016 from 12:30 pm to 5:00pm. Staff from the Psychiatry Department will host a health fair under this year’s theme “Dignity in Mental Health- Psychological First Aid for All”. In addition to booths by the Mental Health Services team, other stakeholders such as Children’s Authority, Childline, Alzheimer’s Association of Trinidad and Tobago will be present.

International Housekeeping Week celebrations hosted by the Domestic Department will close with a Rewards and Recognition Programme at the San Fernando City Hall Auditorium on Thursday 29th September, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event will highlight the tremendous contributions made by wardsmaids, their achievements and their integral role in enhancing the quality of healthcare in the South-West Region.

The Domestic Department’s 2nd annual International Housekeeping Week Celebrations will continue with a Talent Show on Wednesday 28th September, 2016 at the San Fernando General Hospital’s Foyer from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. SWRHA wardsmaids will be joined by wardsmaids from the NWRHA, St. Anns Hospital, St. James Medical Complex, Sangre Grande Hospital and the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex to showcase their talents. Come support the Domestic Department as they celebrate International Housekeeping Week 2016.

To commemorate Caribbean Wellness Month, staff from the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre will visit the St. Madeleine Government Primary School on Tuesday 27th September, 2016 to engage students in lecture and discussions on healthy living and healthy hearts from 10:00am to 11:30 am. September is Caribbean Wellness Month and this year’s theme is “Healthy Children in Healthy Environments". For further information contact the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre at 222- 3685.

The SWRHA Domestic Department will commence their week of activities, celebrating International Housekeeping Week with a Thanksgiving Ceremony at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Harris Promenade on Monday 26th September, 2016 at 12:00 pm. This is the Wardsmaids Department 2nd annual celebration of International Housekeeping Week which is annually held to highlight the vital role of housekeeping staff and their contributions to the healthcare.
Domestic Department celebrates Housekeeping Week 2016

The Domestic Department at the San Fernando General Hospital ended their week of activities celebrating International Housekeeping Week with a Rewards and Recognition Ceremony at the San Fernando City Hall Auditorium on September 29th, 2016. Wardsmaids from SWRHA, as well as domestic staff in NCRHA, NWRHA and ERHA were awarded for their excellent service, outstanding commitment, neatness, punctuality and high maintenance of quality in the workplace.
