Moruga Health Centre hosted Adolescent Programme
Tuesday 16th April, 2019 marked the second day of a planned week of activities for the Adolescent Programme, taking place at the Moruga Health Centre. The programme, which caters to children from the Moruga Police Youth Club and the Moruga community, aims to address social and health issues which affect adolescents and encourage them to make healthy lifestyle choices. In the session held on Monday 15th April, 2019 the children were exposed to the topic of Sexuality and Teenage Pregnancy. On Tuesday their Body Mass Indexes (BMI) were calculated, blood pressure and blood sugar tested, they played games and learnt Basic First Aid. Also on the agenda, is a field trip carded for Wednesday 17th April, 2019. This Programme will conclude on Thursday 18th April, 2019, with participants learning to prepare healthy meals. Registered Nurse, Ms. Donel Mitchell and nursing staff at the Moruga Health Centre guided the children through the day`s activities. The Moruga Health Centre has been hosting this event for the past three years.
