Mass Casualty Management Workshop at SWRHA
The Opening Ceremony for Mass Casualty Management Workshop was held at the Conference Room, Level 3 San Fernando Teaching Hospital on September 4th, 2019 . The Pan American Health Organisation in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and SWRHA’s Training and Development Unit, Human Resources Department will host this Workshop at the San Fernando General and Teaching Hospital from September 2nd to 7th, 2019. A mass casualty event can overwhelm a healthcare system, causing casualties to exceed resources and capabilities in a short time. This Mass Casualty Management Workshop is centred on saving of lives, preserving functionality and reducing suffering in a mass casualty incident. It focuses on providing a prompt response with early information sharing among multi-sector teams. The 47 participants comprised staff members from the Ministry of Health, SWRHA Point Fortin Borough Corporation, San Fernando City Corporation, Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, and GMRTT.
