Caroni South Cluster - Striving for Excellence in Nursing

In recognition of Nurses Week the Caroni South Cluster held their Nurses Day Celebration Striving for Excellence in Nursing on May 14th, 2019 at the Couva District Health Facility. It was a tribute to primary care nurses for their service and outstanding health promotion activities conducted at their centres within the cluster: Couva Primary Health Care, Flanagin Town, Gran Couva, Todds Road, Freeport and Tabaquite.

Mrs. Betty Ann Pilgrim, Chief Nursing Officer, Ministry of Health, praised the nurses for the work they have done and recognised that nurses sometimes feel undervalued. She asked those present to appreciate who they are as nurses, the responsibilities they hold and their roles as advocates in healthcare. Mrs. Pilgrim urged them to join with her to achieve her vision of nurses being seen as compassionate, communicative, committed, culturally sensitive, courageous and competent by changing the D-N-A of healthcare: D - Developing determination, N – Negate negativity, and A – Aspire to achieve.
