Flanagin Town Health Centre's Zika Poster Competition
Flanagin Town RC Primary School are the winners of the Flanagin Town Health Centre and Diabetic Support and Wellness Group’s Zika Poster Competition 2016. The winners were announced at the Competition’s Prize-giving Ceremony held on Friday 10th June, 2016 at the Flanagin Town Health Centre.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Kygan Worrell, President of the Flanagin Town Health Centre’s Diabetic Support and Wellness Group explained that the competition acted as a catalyst for educating children on Zika and Zika prevention methods. Prior to the start of the Competition, Ms. Seeta Sookdeo, District Health Visitor held interactive health education sessions on Zika and promoted the Poster Competition at three primary schools in the Flanagin Town community- Flanagin Town RC, Brasso RC and Mamoral RC. In response, sixty-four students participated in the competition which ended on Friday 27th May, 2016.
The Prize-giving Ceremony featured live musical performances by students from each school. First, second and third place winners were awarded prizes and all students were given Certificates of Participation. Alyssa Soodeen received the prize for the Best Poster with her poster entitled, “Do you want Zika? Then…The future is in your hands”.
