UTT Students visit San Fernando General Hospital

Five second year students from the University of Trinidad and Tobago O’Meara Campus pursuing Biomedical Engineering studies visited the San Fernando General Hospital on July 11th, 2017. Here, they toured the Emergency, Biomedical and Radiology Departments, as well as the Pathology Lab. The group visited SFGH to gain an understanding of the real-world practical aspects of Biomedical Science with emphasis on laboratory equipment, CT Scanning and the overall inpatient and outpatient processes.  Under the informative guidance of Mr. Shiva Balliram of the Biomedical Department, the students were extremely grateful to be a part of this experience, as they were able to see their classroom theory come to life. Students claimed to now have a better understanding of various biomedical specialties, and said that they will be more capable of choosing an appropriate specialisation within their field.
