Staff at the Ste. Madeleine Health Centre Staff joined members of their Senior Citizens Recreation Camp to commemorate Emancipation on July 30th, 2019. Camp members were treated to a presentation by Ms. Jochelle Mohammed, Registered Dietitian and Ms. Amrita Boodoosingh, Dietitian Intern, on hypertension, healthy eating and the components of a healthy diet. Artistes Ziggy Rankin, Del Toro, Ato, Rondell Donawa kept the audience engaged and entertained during their lively performances. Mr. Hugh Humphrey, renowned drummist and members of his drumming school delivered an upbeat rhythmic drum rendition which had members of the audience dancing. In the Emancipation Queen Competition, Ms. Marilyn Salandy, Ms. Bernadette Bledman and Ms. Theresa Baptiste, placed 1st 2nd and 3rd respectively. Mr. Lester Joseph was crowned Emancipation King followed by Mr. Richard Mc Collins and Mr. Holton Taylor, the first and second place winners. District Health Visitors Ms. Erica Christom and Ms. Sonia Gall and staff at the Health Centre continue to work with members of the Recreation Camp to improve the health, wellness and social well-being of senior citizens in the Ste. Madeleine Community.
