San Fernando, August 8th, 2017. The South-West Regional Health Authority wishes to remind the public of the different health facilities available to persons accessing our various healthcare services.
At present, the SWRHA has 33 Health Centres open on weekdays between the hours of 8:00am to 4:00pm. We also offer Extended Hour Services on weekdays until 9:00 pm and on weekends at 11 health centres. Persons can visit their nearest health centre to access basic emergency services, treatment for common diseases and minor injuries and for referral to other levels of care.
The SWRHA’s District Health Facilities are located at Couva, Siparia and Princes Town that provide health care for clients with medical cases that require additional or specialised treatment. These facilities also offer auxiliary support such as radiology and pharmacy services. Services include primary care, specialist sessions and 24 hour emergency care available at the DHFs’ Emergency Departments.
Persons are advised to visit Emergency Departments at the District Health Facilities as well as at the San Fernando General Hospital and Area Hospital Point Fortin when faced with life threatening accidents/incidents and emergency cases, inclusive of motor vehicle accidents, gunshots or chop wounds, loss of limbs, severe bleeding, severe burn or ingestion of toxic substances. In light of a temporary influx of clients at present, at the Emergency Department San Fernando General Hospital, persons are reminded that healthcare services can be accessed at their nearest District Health Facilities and health centres.
Clients can also utilise the Customer Service Desk or Customer Service Hotline at 87-SWRHA (79742) to gain further information on our various healthcare services and facilities, share any concerns or have their suggestions addressed.
