Health Fair and Anniversary celebration in Princes Town
On January 17th, 2018 Princes Town celebrated their 138th anniversary. In 1880 Prince Albert and Prince George visited the small village of (then) Mission de Savanna Grande and planted two Pouis trees within the St Stephen’s Anglican Church yard to commemorate their visit. These trees are markers that record the exact moment the Mission de Savanna Grande, was renamed Princes Town.
In remembrance of this day The Princes Town DHF in collaboration with the Princes Town Regional Corporation, NAMDEVCO, and the Les Efforts Lions Club hosted a health fair. A procession began at the St. Stephen’s Anglican Church which led to the Princes Town Promenade where the Health Fair was held. Present were members of the First People Association who opened with a prayer and tobacco ritual. Former MP Moruga/ Tableland, Mr. Clifton De Coteau delivered remarks about the Day’s celebration. Thanks to the Rice Farmers of Moruga, Bee-Keeping Society and the Association for the Hearing Impaired (DRETCHI) who all contributed in making this Health Fair a success.
Healthcare Services available to the public at this Health Fair included Nutrition Education, Influenza Vaccines, DiaScan testing, blood pressure testing and HIV Rapid Testing.
