Autism Awareness Charity Event: 'For the Love of Pan' Book Launch

The South-West Regional Health Authority’s Community Paediatric team in collaboration with Community Chest Limited and Support Autism TnT launched a novel, ‘For the Love of Pan’ on Sunday 24th November 2018 at the Naparima Girls High School Auditorium. The novel was written by Dr. Bahadursingh, Consultant Community Paediatrician, SWRHA.

This fictional novel depicts the life of a boy with Autism in Trinidad who rises to the heights of success in the playing of steelpan. The story takes the reader through the challenges that a family faces in our context. The novel is meant to educate, build awareness and also help with advocacy regarding Autism and differently-abled children in Trinidad and Tobago.  Book are available for sale at Nigel R Khan bookstore at a cost of $100.00. All proceeds from the book go towards projects related to children with autism and other developmental conditions.

The Honourable Minister of Health Mr. Terrence Deyalsingh was present at the launch of this book and delivered the feature addressed.   This book has been further endorsed by David Rudder, Calypsonian;  Professor  Zachary Warren, Treatment and Research Institute for Autism, Vanderbilt University, USA; and Dr. Jasmine Ramcharan, Lecturer Child Health, UWI.
