As a part of the Ministry of Health TT Moves Initiative, the SWRHA hosted Take it to the Top on Sunday 26th May, 2019. The event challenged persons to drink water, exercise regularly and eat fruit and vegetables. After blood pressure and blood sugar testing from nursing staff and interacting with Dr. Sandi Arthur, Primary Care Practitioner II, members of the public and SWRHA staff, donned their sneakers and set off from the bottom of the San Fernando Hill at approximately 3:30 p.m.
On successfully reaching the top amidst the beautiful scenery, Ms. Kyrie-Aarti Homer, Registered Dietitian engaged persons in yoga exercises followed by a fun energetic aerobic session with Mr. Corey Dillon, Registered Nurse. Participants battled in the Water Drinking Competition, the winner was able to drink four and a half bottles of water within the 2 minutes deadline. Dr. Melissa Bachan, Primary Care Practitioner II, summed up the evening proceedings with a brief interactive presentation on drinking water regularly, the best type of water to drink and provided information on fruit-infused water.
