Falling Ceiling at Burns Unit
San Fernando, March 10th, 2018: The South-West Regional Health Authority wishes to assure the public that patients warded at the Burns Unit at the San Fernando General Hospital have been relocated to safe and secured area and continue to receive treatment as usual from our dedicated healthcare professionals.
Earlier this morning at approximately 1:10 am, part of the ceiling of the Burns Unit at Level 1 of the old yet faithful San Fernando General Hospital collapsed. At the time four (4) patients were warded at the unit, however no physical injuries were sustained by the patients nor staff. As a safety precaution our, patients and staff were temporarily relocated to another six (6) bedded vacant area on Level 2 of the hospital. This area was previously assigned to the treatment of Blood Disorders.
At present our construction team is currently on site investigating and assessing the area to begin repair works in the shortest period of time. The Authority will continue to provide updates to the public through our various mediums: our website, facebook page and media houses.
The South-West Regional Health Authority takes this opportunity to express its gratitude to our dedicated staff for their immediate response and apologize to our patients and staff for any inconvenience caused.
