Domestic Department celebrates Housekeeping Week 2016

The Domestic Department at the San Fernando General Hospital ended their week of activities celebrating International Housekeeping Week with a Rewards and Recognition Ceremony at the San Fernando City Hall Auditorium on September 29th, 2016. Wardsmaids from SWRHA, as well as domestic staff in NCRHA, NWRHA and ERHA were awarded for their excellent service, outstanding commitment, neatness, punctuality and high maintenance of quality in the workplace.

International Housekeeping Week recognises professional housekeepers and persons who daily maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment in facilities across the globe. This is the Domestic Department’s second annual commemoration of International Housekeeping Week.

Earlier in the week, on September 26th, wardsmaids gathered at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Harris Promenade to give thanks, and uplift each other through sermons, songs and prayer. This was followed by Brunch on September 27th, at Level 3 San Fernando Teaching Hospital. Domestic staff from various health facilities shared on-the-job experiences and encouraged others to strive for excellence in the performance of their duties. Embroidery, art and craft and culinary skills were also put on display on September 28th, at the SFGH’s Foyer.

These activities “celebrate the part we play in the SWRHA…promote health and help to build relationships with the other regions. We hope that this venture will impact wardsmaids so that they can become the best versions of themselves,” said Ms. Michelle Trotman, Domestic Supervisor.
