As part of their Nurses Week observance the Nurses at San Fernando General Hospital hosted 100% Nurses on May 14th, 2019. It was a recognition of those nurses who had perfect attendance in 2018 and an opportunity for Nursing Administration to introduce their motto “Compassion in Action”.

Nurse Manager Secondary Services, SFGH, Mrs. Sherma Alexander-Campbell indicated that they were celebrating the 37 nurses who had perfect attendance in 2018, an 85% increase when compared to 2017. Mrs. Alexander-Campbell went on to encourage them to repeat this achievement and adopt the motto “Compassion in Action” as it is not just feeling for others, but it is actually purposing in our hearts that we will do for them what they cannot do for themselves. She continued by saying that this is what we see as the heart of nursing, going that one extra step to let our patients see through our actions that we recognise their hurt, we recognise their misfortune and as nurses we want to be their advocates.
