AHPF Staff receives Hospital Incident Command System Training

The Disaster Coordination Unit in collaboration with the Human Resources Training and Development Unit continue its thrust towards training SWRHA staff to effectively respond in the event of disasters. Twenty-two members of staff from Area Hospital Point Fortin received training in Hospital Incident Command System on May 24th, 2019 at Level 3 Conference Room, SFTH. The Training was conducted by Mr. Jaishima Gowandan, Regional Coordinator at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM). HICS is a management tool which is used to manage emergencies and disasters within the hospital setting that allows for strategic planning and the development of response protocols for incidents. The Training Programme aims to impart the knowledge and principles of HICS to all members of the SWRHA Disaster Management Committees, as well as clinical and medical staff from the Emergency Departments. On completion, staff will be equipped to use their expertise to manage emergencies & disasters within their respective facilities. Since its implementation in 2016, Friday’s Training Programme, brings the members of SWRHA staff trained in HICS to 64.
