Twenty-six police officers from the Southern Division, Central Division, Community Policing Secretariat and South Western Division participated in the fifth Psychological and Mental Health First Aid training session, hosted by the Psychiatric Department on May 26th, 2017 at Level 3 Conference Room, San Fernando Teaching Hospital. This brief training session was designed to equip officers with knowledge to recognise and respond to persons with mental illnesses, while facilitating the referral process for specialised treatment available at the SWRHA.

Twenty Imams from the South-West Region participated in the third Psychological and Mental Health First Aid training session, hosted by the Psychiatric Department on January 10th, 2016 at Level 3 Conference Room, San Fernando Teaching Hospital. This brief training session was designed to equip imams with knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to mental health problems in persons in their communities, while facilitating the referral process for specialised treatment available at the SWRHA.

South-West Regional Health Authority’s Psychiatric Department hosted its second Psychological and Mental Health First Aid Training Session on November 29th, 2016 at the Level 2 Conference Room, San Fernando Teaching Hospital. Fifty members of the clergy attended the training session aimed at teaching church leaders to provide supportive and practical help to persons or members suffering serious crisis event.
