CLINICAL PACS/RIS ADMINISTRATOR

 

Job Summary:

 

The Clinical PACS/RIS Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the clinical aspect of the PACS/RIS system as well as training and supporting users to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction. The incumbent will manage and monitor the practical and operational issues essential for the successful PACS/RIS implementation processes and equipment errors in accordance with departmental protocol while ensuring radiology information can be stored, recalled, displayed, manipulated and printed digitally. Also effective liaison with the IT administrator who provides the technical support for the PACS/RIS system.

 

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a qualified radiographer and two (2) years’ experience in a PACS/RIS environment with a minimum of three years at a supervisory or management level.
  • Certification in PACS/RIS Administration and Information Systems Management.
  • Possession of a Clinical Instructor’s Certificate would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Clinical workflow in a film-less environment and data management procedures and techniques.

 

 

RADIOGRAPHER III

 

Job Summary:

 

The Radiographer III is required to co-ordinate staff and workload for the area of work designated, in conjunction with the Senior Radiographer and to assist in the supervision of junior staff. The officer is also responsible for providing high quality radiographic images using equipment throughout the main imaging areas of the department and provides a mobile service to the wards and theatres. The officer is also required to act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor. The Radiographer III manages radiographic services and the coordination of patient flow and staff placement, keeps records of radiation doses, over-exposures, medicals and transfers, ensures the testing of protective devices and maintains a schedule and record for preventative maintenance.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • The incumbent must be a qualified Radiographer with a recognized Degree, Diploma or an Associate Degree
  • At least five (5) years postgraduate experience and must be registered with the Radiographer’s Board (1985).
  • Knowledge of modern photographic laboratory techniques and abide by the “Statements of Professional Conduct” issued by the Society of Radiographers.

 

RADIOGRAPHER II

 

Job Summary:

 

The Radiographer II will be required to co-ordinate staff and workload for the area of work designated, in conjunction with Radiographer III and to assist in the supervision of junior staff. The officer will be responsible for providing high quality radiographic images using equipment throughout the main imaging areas of the department and provides a mobile service to the wards and theatres. The incumbent is required to maintain the highest standards of MRI Services at all times and be aware of and participates in current developments in MRI and provides a professional standard of communication to all medical, nursing, technical and ancillary staff.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Must be a qualified Radiographer with recognized Degree, Diploma or an Associate Degree.
  • At least three (3) years postgraduate experience.
  • Registration with the Radiographer’s Board (1985).
  • Knowledge of the departmental Quality Assurance Strategy Programme and comply with the Magnetic Safety Policy and also to be involved in future developments.

 

 

Radiographer I

 

Job Summary:

 

The Radiographer I is required to assist in the provision of an efficient and high quality Imaging Service, using equipment throughout the imaging areas of the department and to provide mobile services to wards and theatres. He/She would be required to undertake general radiographic procedures to agreed standards, in accordance with departmental protocol, assess the quality of radiographs and seeks advice from Senior Radiographic staff when required, utilize equipment and accessories correctly, reporting any fault to the senior member of staff responsible for the equipment and keep equipment clean and rooms tidy in order to observe the Health and Safety rules and regulations.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • The incumbent must be a qualified Radiographer with a recognized degree, diploma or an associate degree.
  • Must to be registered with the Radiographer’s Board (1985).
  • Knowledge of the departmental Quality Assurance Strategy Programme and comply with the Magnetic Safety Policy and also to be involved in future developments.

 

 

 

ULTRASONOGRAPHER II

 

Job Summary:

 

The Ultrasonographer II will be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures within established ultrasound standards. The officer is required to continually revise, review and monitor the ultrasound workload so as to meet the needs of each service user. He / She maintains accurate patient records both manually and electronically with regard to appointments, statistics and reporting.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • The incumbent must be a qualified Radiographer with a recognized Degree, Diploma or an Associate Degree with at least three (3) years postgraduate experience, in Ultrasonography
  • Must be registered with the Radiographer’s Board (1985).
  • Clinical expertise in Obstetric, Gynecological and medical ultrasound examination.

 

 

Ultrasonographer I

 

Job Summary:

 

The Ultrasonographer I will be responsible for the development and implementation of procedures and policies within established Ultrasonography standards. The incumbent will work as part of a health care team to perform ultrasound examinations, ascertain emergency cases, refer patients to medical practitioners, and prepare reports for the consideration of the Radiologist.  He / She must have knowledge in sonographic procedures and patient communication, and must be able to carry out oral and written instructions as requested by the Supervisor with exceptional understanding of Human Anatomy.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • The incumbent must possess a Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from a recognized institution.
  • Training in Radiology would be considered an asset.

 

 

ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH TECHNICIAN

 

Job Summary:

 

The Electrocardiograph Technician will be responsible for administering tests by operating Electrocardiographs (single or multi-channel recording equipment) to record various leads reflecting the electrical currents emanating from the heart muscle; prepares patients for testing, explains the procedure to patients, calibrates machine and loads graphic paper. He / She will perform tests with portable equipment in patient rooms, submit results to physician for interpretation, maintain records, type and file when necessary; maintains established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, relating to quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Five (5) GCE/CXC O’Levels including English Language and Mathematics and a science subject
  • At least two (2) years of working experience, preferably in a Healthcare Institution would, be an asset. 
  • Certification in Electrocardiograph Technology or evidence of having been formally trained in the field of ECG from a recognized institution or Healthcare organization would be an asset.

 

 

 

 

BEREAVEMENT COUNSELLOR

 

Job Summary:

The Bereavement Counsellor will be responsible for providing social psychological support to all bereaved relatives on a day to day basis.  The work will include individual and group counselling within the respective cultural/religious belief system; assisting with staff interpersonal relationship skills development and organizing funerals for unclaimed corpses.  The Bereavement Coordinator will be required to liaise closely with the Mortuary Coordinator, ward staff and relatives.

 

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Diploma/ Certificate Psychology, Certificate in Counselling from a recognized institution and a minimum of three (3) years experience working as a counsellor.
  • Evidence of continued Professional Development and extensive experience working in a bereavement environment.
  • Interpersonal Personal Relationship (IPR) skills, as well as sound counselling and computer literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of Grief, Death & Dying awareness and understanding of the cultural and religious belief systems of the society

 

 

SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST

 

Job Summary:

 

The Senior Technologist will be responsible for the supervision of all activities of a specialised field of Medical Laboratory Technology. Work involves supervision and training of laboratory staff and providing technical assistance as may be required. The incumbent is required to supervise all activities in a specialised field of Medical Laboratory Technology including Immunology, Haematology, Immunohaematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, and Cytopathology. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager who reviews work through inspections, reports and general observations.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or the relevant Associate degree.
  • Certification in Management
  • Certificate course in specialised field and evidence of continuing education.
  • Possesses a minimum of 7 years relevant working experience in a clinical laboratory and another 3 years in the laboratory specific discipline.
  • Experience in identifying potential risks in the workplace.
  • Experience with using a Laboratory Information System and delivering innovations within service delivery.
  • Registration with the Medical Laboratory Technician’s Board, Council for Professions related to Medicine.

 

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST II

 

Job Summary:

 

The Medical Laboratory Technologist II will be responsible for performing the more complex laboratory tests in a specialized field of medical laboratory technology. Work involves assisting the Technical Section Leader in the supervision and training of staff, coordinates the testing including quality assurance/quality control and equipment maintenance. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed by the Technical Section Leader through reports, general discussion and general observations.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or the relevant Associate degree with a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant working experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Registration with the Medical Laboratory Technician’s Board, Council for Professions related to Medicine.
  • Must be Computer Literate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

 

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST I

 

Job Summary:

 

The Medical Laboratory Technologist I is responsible for performing routine laboratory procedures under supervision. Work involves conducting a variety of tests using specialized procedures and techniques of organic and analytical chemistry on different types of samples human organs, tissue, and body fluids such as blood, stool, sputum, cerebrospinal fluid, semen and urine. Work also involves operating computerized equipment and performing clerical functions related to laboratory activities.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • A recognised Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or the relevant Associate degree.
  • Registration with the Medical Laboratory Technician’s Board, Council for Professions related to Medicine.
  • Must be Computer Literate.
  • Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses and medical terminology.

 

 

 

MORTUARY ATTENDANT

 

Job Summary:

 

The Mortuary Attendant will be responsible for routine non-professional work related to the storage of corpses and maintenance of the Mortuary environment.  The work will include handling of corpses; assisting the Pathologist with post mortems and maintaining a sanitary work environment. He / She will perform duties within clear policy guidelines and Health and Safety requirements.

 

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

  • Three (3) O’ Levels CXC / GCE with a minimum of six (6) months working experience as an attendant in a hospital/mortuary environment.
  • Clean disciplinary employment record.
