Job Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator (Nursing Services) is responsible for the professional and supervisory training and development of nursing staff. He/She will instruct trained Nurses, Enrolled Nursing Assistants, and Patient Care Assistants in the practical aspects of nursing by means of lectures and demonstrations for the maintenance of quality care. He/She will also be responsible to liaise with Assistant Nurse Managers of the San Fernando General Hospital to implement programmes based on the training needs of nursing students and Patient Care Assistants training needs. The work will involve correlating practice with theory, at various levels, by supervising and working with staff in the clinical areas, and teaching non-professional, non-technical duties to other non-nursing personnel. The General Manager, Nursing Services will assess the work of the Clinical Practice Coordinator’s work.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years continuous nursing experience.

  • Possession of a Clinical Instructor’s Certificate would be considered an asset.

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad & Tobago.


Job Summary:

The Midwife performs normal obstetrical deliveries and routine duties including ante-partum and post-partum care. Work in the hospital is performed under supervision and reviewed by a professional superior.

The Midwife reports to the Patient Care Co-ordinator.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Training as evidenced by possession of a recognized certificate in Midwifery.

  • Registration as a Midwife with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.


Job Summary

The District Health Visitor is required to perform public health nursing within a primary health care paradigm and is responsible for the management of an assigned health district, towards optimum health and well being of individuals, families and the community. The emphasis is child health, health promotion, disease prevention and rehabilitation.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Experience in Public Health Nursing such as may have been gained in the next lower class and training as evidenced by the possession of certificates in General Nursing and Midwifery.

  • Diploma in Public Health nursing recognised by the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health.

  • Registration as a Nurse and as a Midwife by the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

  • Possession of the Royal Society of Health Certificate for Health Visitors and School Nurses.

Job Summary:

The District Nurse is responsible for supervising/ co-ordinating activities for providing continued health care for clients and relatives in the Health Centre and in the Community. 

The District Nurse works with considerable independence in accordance with established guidelines and standard practice and will report to the District Health Visitor.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Certificate in District Nursing and/or ten (10) years General Nursing and three (3) years midwifery experience.

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad & Tobago as a General Nurse and a Midwife.  


Job Summary:

The Mental Health Officer works in an assigned district and ensures the safety and welfare of persons who are mentally ill or are suspected of being mentally ill. Work involves the attendance at out-patient psychiatric clinics and checking on defaulters. Work also involves making home visits as a follow-up to clinic and checking on defaulters.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Post-basic training in Mental Health Nursing and Social Work at pre-professional level; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Registration by the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago in General Nursing or Mental Health Nursing.

  • Experience in Mental Health Nursing and training as evidenced by the possession of a Certificate in General Nursing or Mental Health Nursing.


Job Summary:

The Emergency Medical Technician is required to provide efficient and emergency care to the ill patient, in all aspects and in accordance to instructions given by the Medical Officer. The EMT is responsible for responding to emergency calls and facilitating patient transfer in emergency situations to another Medical Facility. 

The Emergency Medical Technician has a dual reporting Supervision. He/She would report to the Fleet/Transport Coordinator, on most matters, while, at the same time being dispatched by the Medical Officer, on duty at the Emergency Department, of the particular Facility.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) CXC O’ level passes.

  • A current national registry EMT certificate with two (2) to three (3) year’s EMT experience.

  • A recognized certificate in First Aid Training.

  • A recognized certificate in CPR.

  • A recognized certificate in Trauma/Phlebotomy Training would be an asset.

  • A Valid Heavy ‘T’ driver’s license with the ability to drive and operate Manual Transmission Vehicles.

  • Possession of a valid Defensive driving certificate with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.

  • A suitable combination of training and experience.


Job Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer is required to analyze comprehensive complex diagnostic cardiac ultra sound procedures such as Transthoracic Echo (TTE), Dobutamine Stress Echo (DSE), Treadmill Echo (TME), and assists physicians with Transesophageal Echo (TEE) procedures on patients referred for evaluation of suspected or known heart disease, post-operative evaluation of surgical therapy, or placement of prosthetic devices.

The Cardiac Sonographer will report to the Specialist Medical Officer, Cardiology.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • The incumbent must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiography/Cardiac Sonography or an Associate Degree in Echocardiography from an accredited institution with at least three (3) years postgraduate experience in Cardiac Sonography.

  • The incumbent is also required to possess a Diploma in Echocardiography by the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences and COSTAATT or any other accredited institution.

  • The incumbent must be registered with the Radiographer’s Board and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.


Job Summary:

The Audit Assistant II is required to assist in determining whether the various departments of the Regional Health Authority are performing their accounting, custodial and control activities in compliance with generally accepted Accounting Principles, Management Policies and Instructions.

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • The incumbent is required to have completed Level II of a professional accounting program.

  • The incumbent must also possess three (3) years accounting experience and at least one (1) year working experience in a Computerized Accounting Environment.
